Since seeing the Hello Kitty Cafe truck at the Hello Kitty Con in 2014 (everything was sold out, except for the water), it's been on my list of things to check out. Hello Kitty Cafe announced it'll be in Sacramento a few weeks ago, but being a San Jose resident, I knew it was a matter of time till they made it down to the South Bay Area.
A couple of weeks ago, when they had made it to San Francisco, I was extremely tempted to head over that way. But... I felt the amount of trouble I had to deal with in terms of traffic, parking, etc. may not be worth it. Luckily, their next stop was Santana Row (San Jose). Yay!
Be sure to check their Facebook events page to see their truck stop schedule.
The truck's scheduled hours were from 10AM - 8PM on Saturday and 10AM - 5PM on Sunday. I decided it may not be a bad idea to get there early on Saturday and beat the crowd, since the weather was expected to be in the 80s. So I dragged dear boyfriend and headed over to Santana Row.
We were able to easily find parking at Santa Row lot located on Olin Ave, across from Starbucks. The truck was planned to be parked in front of Sino. When we had arrived at the line, it was about 8:30AM, and we were about 15th in line. The security guard at Santana Row kindly let the people in line know that it was okay to grab the chairs from their community area (but expected us to return the chairs by 9:30-9:45AM). We had brought an iPad along so watching Netflix made the waiting time a breeze!
The truck opened up just a few minutes past 10AM. They had everything available that was on their price chart. I picked up one of everything, and a few extras for gifts.
They also had the Chubby Bunny for Hello Kitty Bow Headbands for sale (Not listed, but sold for $30).
There were two different women's shirts available for sale - white and pink. Both are nicely made, and very soft. I plan to wear one to the next Hello Kitty event and one to sleep :)
The mug is super adorable, with dessert-themed design all the way around the mug, and even the inside of the mug has a mini donut design! A bit pricy at $13, but a must-have for any Hello Kitty fan :)
Overall, it was a great experience and planning ahead made it oh-so-easy :)
